Known As The First Mountain City
Jasper is a city located in Pickens County, Georgia, with a population of about 3,700 people, according to the 2010 census. Jasper is one of the country’s oldest towns, with a history dating back to 1853. In its early days, it had a few hundred residents, primarily farmers and miners, who lived on abundant, fertile land.
Jasper's unique geographic location, nestled within the Appalachian Mountains, contributed to its growth in industries such as mining and agriculture.
